The Harrells Christian Academy varsity football team is kicking the season off with consecutive wins this year. They took down East Montgomer High 34-6.
The Crusaders jumped out first with a touchdown in the first quarter. By halftime, 3 more Crusaders had crossed E.M.’s end zone for a 28-0 score.
Harrells put one more touch down on the board in the third quarter and East Montgomery scored 6 in the fourth.
Total yardage for HCA was 366 yards, with 34 rushing attempts for 287 total yards. Crusader quarterback O.H. Rouse attempted 3 passes, with 2 completions for a total of 82 yards. One of those completions was to Patrick Walker for a 38 yard touch down pass.
Kelly Nelms was leading rusher with 14 carries for 169 yards.
Other individual rushing stats showed Channing Kelly with 5 carries for 19 yards; Patrick Walker had 3 carries for 16 yards; Marcus Scarborough had 7 carries for 60 yards; Zach Carlton had 2 carries for 14 yards; Will Huff had 1 carry for 6 yards; Donta Chavious had 2 carries for 3 yards; and Austin Wells had 1 carry for 4 yards.
Besides, Walker’s outstanding TD catch, Marcus Scarborough, Channing Kelly, Kelly Nelms, and Austin Wells each scored a touch down for the Crusaders.
Kirk Smith kicked 4 PAT’s to add to the score.
On defense, Fredrick Strickland had 19 tackles and Patrick Walker had 13 tackles.
HCA Crusaders are 2-0 after defeating South Lenoir in their season-opener on August 22. They will play at Warren County on Friday, September 6.
