A rape charge has been filed against a 19-year-old Clinton man, charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor.

Police reports, released Tuesday, show that Juan Carlos Osorio, of 314 Giddens St., Clinton, was taken into custody Friday afternoon, charged with first degree rape. He was jailed under a $100,000 bond, but has since been released.

Clinton investigators initiated the case after receiving information from the Wayne County Department of Social Services indicating that a 12-year-old female was pregnant by a man, she claimed, was her boyfriend.

The incident reportedly occurred at a Clinton restaurant on July 23.

An investigation led officers to Osorio, who was taken into custody around 3:15 p.m. Friday.

No other details about the incident were released.

Osorio is scheduled to make his first appearance in Sampson District Court on the charges later this week.
